Meet Dr. Joel

Dr. Joel Ingersoll is a nationally recognized performance coach for students, parents, business leaders, and athletes. Over the past 20+ years, he has coached and trained thousands of students across more than 200 colleges and universities, helping them rebound from setbacks, develop independence, and build the life and career skills today’s world demands.

He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, an M.A. in Applied Social Psychology, and a Master Coach Certification (CMC). He is the founder of the Center for Psychological Health & Fitness, creator of multiple college readiness and performance programs, and host of the Mental Health University podcast. He has also developed MasterClasses on college adjustment, resilience, and bouncing back from subpar semesters.

Joel’s work has been featured in academic journals and national media outlets for his expertise in student performance, parenting, and the integration of fitness with mental well-being. He has advised student organizations, supported college wellness initiatives, and consulted with athletic teams and coaching staffs as a sports psychology and performance consultant.

With decades of experience across clinical, academic, and coaching spaces, Joel blends psychology, performance science, and practical strategies into a holistic coaching system that helps students, parents, and professionals move from stuck to unstoppable.

Who is this program for?

The Accelerator is designed for struggling college students and concerned parents who need expert guidance, structure, and accountability. It’s for families who want a solution-focused approach to academic recovery from a bad semester, strengthen performance, maximize personal growth, and build a transcript that reflects both academic success and ungraded—but essential—skills like resilience, accountability, and emotional intelligence.

Is the group component a therapy group?

No. This is not therapy—it’s an educational and coaching hybrid program. Students and parents are never expected to discuss personal mental or physical health diagnoses or private “issues.” While Dr. Joel is trained as a psychologist, he serves as a certified performance coach throughout this program. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for more details.

Can we add semester coaching later if we’ve purchased the self-guided course?

Yes. Families who start with the self-guided video course can upgrade at any time to add semester coaching or individual coaching sessions. These add-ons are available for an additional fee.

Can my college-bound high school student benefit from CBB accelerator?

Absolutely. College BounceBack is also an excellent preparation program for high school juniors and seniors. It increases awareness of student challenges and campus support resources, helps parents plan for a lower-stress transition, and develops critical academic, emotional, and lifestyle skills before stepping on campus for the first time.
